Manpras Blended Spices was launched by Hrishikesh Food Products Pvt. Ltd on International Chef Day with a cooking competition organised by FEA.
For the competition, 11 home chefs of Ahmedabad were picked for the competition. Hampers with chaat masala, sabji masala, pav bhaji masala and kitchen king masala were sent to each participant to create the chaat recipe using these spice blends.
The challenge for the home chefs was to assemble the chaat on-site at Bayleaf restaurant of Courtyard by Marriott Ahmedabad, Ramdevnagar, Satellite Road. The chaats were served to the jury comprising Executive Chef Dinesh Mhatre, Innovative Food Entrepreneurs Associates co-founder Darshan Rawal and restauranteur Navneet Gill for selecting the winners.
The home chefs came up with an exciting diversity of chaats. From traditional dishes like Kavita Purohit’s Pav Bhaji Dahi Vada, Monali Bag Mehta ‘s -Sattu kachori ghugni Chaat , Kamiya Dalwanis Sindhi Bhee Chaat with lotus stem tikkis, Sujata Dehury”s Odisha Dahibara-Aludum and Chhaya Kumar’s Ranchi style channa chaat to the chef’s creations like Dhaara Mehttas Bombay Buddha Bowl, Geetika Khanna Duggals Baked potatoes pocket pindi chole chaat and fruitilicious smoked golgappe, Abhinisha Zubin Ashara’s Pinwheel Samosas, Sonal Nimbalkar Mahurkar’s Soya Kebab Dum Biryani, Mridu Parikh’s Tandoori Dip Platter and Divya Thakker’s Mexican fusion chaat. Apart from the home chef, culinary student Pranshu Kapur from Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Karnataka, participated and made Khajoor Kebabs with Dahi.
The three winners were Geetika Khanna Duggal, Abhinisha Zubin Ashara and Divya Thakker.
The competition included a high tea party attended by members of the food service industry like Aveek Sarkar from Taj Skyline, Rajmohan Modi of Rasna restaurant, Kunal thakkar from Das Khaman, Ronak Thakore from Tomatos, Jayanti Santosh from Sambar Cafe, Jaikishan Jadwani from Hotel President, Juned Laliwala from Apical Banquet, Rishi from Prelude, among others.
